How Quickly We Forget
Ever heard the saying “Out of site, out of mind”? That’s how many of us are when we are faced with a friend or family member becoming incarcerated. Some start out communicating and keeping in touch in the beginning and then phase out, and some never start at all. How easy is it for you to put these people out of your mind and never reach out to them. Yes, maybe they did the crime and must do the time, but does that mean they should lose the support of those around them? After all, you were friends before they got locked up. You were close relatives before they made a mistake. So don’t forget about them because they’re not free. We all need support from our loved ones, whether we’re in jail or out. There should be no difference. Think of it this way, if someone is incarcerated, they need you MORE than those on the outside! Don’t turn your backs on them now. Be an inspiration to them, be there to encourage and strengthen them during this time. Be there to help them straighten their life out so that they won’t repeat the things they may have done. Don’t forget the forgotten ones! Remember and Reach Out! PRISONERS ARE PEOPLE TOO!
